Leaders have an important role in addressing organizational challenges. Research has recognized that adaptive leadership is important in responding to change. Adaptive leadership requires not only different behaviors, but also cognitive skills to understand the situation. Two studies show that training interventions can improve adaptive leadership. A new research project aims to provide a better understanding of adaptive leadership. One study will focus on the antecedents of adaptive leadership, while the other will examine the effects on leaders and followers. The project aims to advance theory and research on adaptive leadership.
