Internships

We are continuously looking for curious and engaged students who wish to gain first-hand research experience and become part of our lab in the context of an internship. At Cognitive and Behavioral Decision Research (CBDR) we work on various projects related to decision making under risk and uncertainty and address questions such as:

  • How to track real-life risk taking using mobile assessments?
  • How to bridge the gap between polarized risk perceptions?
  • How to develop valid measures of risk preference?
  • How to design effective risk communication?

Requirements:
Most importantly you should be excited about research on decision making, with a profound interest in learning about the various stages of the research process. Candidates need to have a thorough and precise work attitude and be enrolled at the UZH (i.e., curricular internship, 16 ECTS course credit).

To the extent that you are already familiar with one or multiple of the tasks outlined below, we are happy to integrate you in one of our ongoing projects such that you can ideally improve your existing competences and also acquire novel skills.

  • Conducting and documenting literature searches (e.g., Zotero)
  • Writing literature reviews
  • Programming web-based applications and studies (e.g., PHP / MySQL, Flutter, Python)
  • Data analytics and visualization (e.g., R, Python)
  • Administration of Amazon Mechanical Turk via Python API

We offer:

  • Opportunity to join a growing and dynamic research team
  • Active involvement in one or multiple of our ongoing projects
  • Guidance and mentoring for the development of novel skills (e.g., tools, data analytics) and knowledge (e.g., literature, theory)
  • Possibility to write your Master's thesis with CBDR after the completion of your internship
  • Involvement in our team meetings and scientific exchange

Timeline:
Internships can be started as of now and may be conducted either part- or full-time. We preferably consider applicants who aim to complete the full 500 hours of the curricular internship.

Applications:
To apply for an internship, please send your motivation letter and CV to Prof. Dr. Renato Frey, renato.frey@uzh.ch
