Central Research Interests

  • Self and identity
  • Motivation across the life span
  • Developmental regulation and social categorization

Brief Research Statement

My primary research interests concern (1) social cognitive aging, that is, the perception and cognitive representation of age group identity vs. generation identity in older adults, (2) motivation and self-categorization, especially the question how motives guide and predict identification and dissociation with social groups, and (3) developmental regulation and the adaptivity of the self-system.
